Here’s How the Devotional Process Works
Start
You reach out and we begin the process. This is where we collect all your content, have a kick off call and get to know your church. Typically takes 1 week.
Writing & design
Your Bible Study is created, you are giving edits and then it’s approved. This process takes around 1-3 weeks depending on edits and amount of content.
Getting the study
Your Bible Study is published! You order copies or we list it on Amazon and now your church can dive deeper into the series content!

You can make a one time purchase for the design and layout of the book. After that the book is listed on Amazon and you can directly link it to your website, emails, planning center notification and more! Your church can order the book right from Amazon with no inventory needed.

If you want to have inventory in your church for the sermon series, in the lobby, or a book store…you can order copies at a flat discount rate and then resell them. This is the option if you want to re-coup the money from design and inventory ordering. We will provide a suggested markup amount.

The initial cost of design and content layout is a one time cost starting at $1,200 and going up per amount of content. Once the book is ready it can cost from $16-30 (depending on amount of pages and design inside).

Meet Jordan and Kelly McDaniel!

I’m Kelly McDaniel, founder of HRVST Studies and a church communications strategist with a decade of experience writing for pastors, worship movements, and Christian organizations. My heart is to help churches take their message deeper by creating beautiful, biblically sound devotionals that reflect your voice and serve your people.
I love the local church and see such a need for deeper discipleship in our congregations — we need more Christians who can eat meat, not just milk.
I’ve watched pastors, including myself, prepare and study and pray to deliver a message that people often forget too soon. So I started writing Bible studies around the sermon series we were doing in our young adults ministry — and what I saw was growth.

Most devotionals take 2–4 weeks depending on the length of the sermon series, how much content you provide, and your revision needs. This is from the initial contact to publish date. Rush options are available upon request.

You can submit sermon notes, manuscripts, outlines, audio/video links, or teaching points — whatever format your team already has. After that, we’ll schedule a quick kickoff call or E-mail correspondence to align tone, length, and structure. A project does not start until 50% of the total contact price is paid.

Yes — this is one of our strengths. We mirror your pastor’s tone, teaching style, and theological language so the devotional feels like it came directly from your house. You have access to reviews and editing along the way and can make changes to the language as needed. We keep the theology to your Church’s belief’s and values.
If you’d like us to come to your church for a launch weekend or full-scale campaign, travel and on-site events can be added as a separate package.

Yes. Once your project is complete, you own 100% of the rights to distribute, print, or sell your devotional however you choose. You will receive a print ready version of the content. If you choose to have us list it on amazon- it is a one time fee for your church to have the devotional made. If you choose to order author copies and resell them in your church you own those and all proceeds made on the mark up price.

Absolutely. We design the cover, interior page layout, and any additional visual elements needed for print or digital format. Jordan will use your church logos, and design aesthetic to create the devotional.

Yes — we format your devotional for Amazon KDP and can upload it for you for the one time design fee, this is included. You will also receive the print ready version of the devo for your team to upload and distribute your self if wanted.

Basic is great for shorter series and includes writing, editing, formatting, and design.
Pro is ideal for longer or more creative projects, including extended devotionals, cover customization, deeper editing, and more revision rounds. -
Most churches pay 50% upfront and the remaining 50% once the devotional is approved/published. We invoice through Square so you can pay by credit card or ACH.
If you order printed copies from us, it’s a discounted author copy price and shipped directly to your church. This is a new invoice that would be created based on the amount of books. The mark down price is about 20% per book.
If you only want to pay the one time design fee, the published book is listed on Amazon and sent directly to print as ordered.

Yes! If you have message notes, a collection of teachings, a discipleship theme, or a seasonal series (Advent, Easter, etc.) we can build a fully original devotional around it.

Yes. We can design social media graphics, slides, promotional images, and print materials as an add-on to support your devotional launch.
This is an additional invoice for creative assets ($200-$500 is an average price range)

Yes. We can help you structure reading plans, discussion questions, sermon tie-ins, and digital content to support a full-church spiritual growth initiative.
This is a more intensive process and will require contact with the teams in your church involved. I have 10+ years in church marketing and can help you maximize the communications around the series including, announcements, e-mails, graphics, social media ads, and more.
This is an additional invoice fee, and if you want us to come to you all travel cost are not included in the invoice. But we would love to support your church in a full scale marketing event to reach the local community where your church is!
